EMBL Announces League Name Change to Avoid Confusion
In a move aimed at clarifying its identity and strengthening its regional roots, the Motor City League has officially rebranded as the Eastern Michigan Baseball League. The change comes after the discovery of another similarly named league launching around the same time, which sparked concerns about potential confusion among fans, players, and sponsors.
League officials say the new name better reflects the broader community the league serves, encompassing not just Detroit but a network of teams across the eastern half of the state. “While Detroit is the heart of our league, we wanted a name that represented the full scope of who we are and where we’re going,” said the league commissioner. “The Eastern Michigan Baseball League gives us that identity while also allowing us to build a distinct brand in the growing world of baseball.”
